Felling & Section Felling
Trees need to be removed for a variety of reasons and is a dangerous process that has the potential to cause damage to structures or surrounding landscapes and should only be carried out by professionals. We have highly qualified and experienced operatives to carry out such operations and we only use modern rigging and climbing techniques. Where access is available we use or range of working platforms.
CROWN REDUCTION
The reduction in height and or spread of the crown of a tree. Crown reduction may be used to reduce mechanical stress on individual branches or the whole tree, make the tree more suited to its immediate environment or to reduce the effects of shading and light loss. This has no regards to side branches. The measurements have been specified to a percentage BS3998 rev2010. Crown reduction is now specified as a measurement of how much crown is being removed in meters ie: reduce overall of the crown by 2m NOT reduce overall crown by 20%.
CROWN THINNING
Crown thinning is the removal of a portion of smaller branches, usually at the outer crown, to produce a uniform density of foliage around an evenly spaced branch structure. It is usually confined to broad-leaved species. Crown thinning does not alter the overall size or shape of the tree. Common reasons for crown thinning are to allow more light to pass through the tree, reduce wind resistance and reduce weight.
CROWN LIFTING
Crown lifting is the removal of the lowest branches. Crown lifting is an effective method of increasing light transmission to areas closer to the tree or to enable access under the crown. Also commonly used over roads, driveways and footpaths where lower branches may encroach.
CROWN CLEANING
Crown cleaning is the removal of dead, damaged/broken branches and crossing branches. This is a key procedure in good tree maintaining aesthetics and safety.
STUMP GRINDING
Stump grinding can be carried out if you are having a tree removed or if you already have a stump on your property. We have a range of stump grinders and can remove any stumps with minimum ground disturbance. Once the stump is ground down the remainder of the stump an root system can gradually rot away underground without causing further disruption. Access as narrow as 28″ possible.
POLLARDING
This is the removal of all branches from the trunk to leave a standing pole or hot stand. Re-pollarding is the removal of all new growth in an urban environment such as street trees. The heavy cutting of a tree at a prescribed height to encourage multi-stem branching from that point, usually only carried out on tree that have not yet reached maturity.
HEDGE MANAGEMENT
Hedges are a common garden feature providing screening and boundaries as well as habitat for wildlife and birds and require maintenance. Regular pruning will ensure they keep their impressive form.

Deadwood Removal
As in the name, this procedure involves the removal of deadwood from the canopy of the tree. This can either be specified as the removal of major deadwood only (anything over 50mm) or removal of all deadwood.
Fruit Tree Pruning
Without training and pruning, fruit trees will not develop proper shape. Correctly trained and pruned trees will yield high quality fruit much earlier in their lives and live significantly longer.
Tree Felling / Dismantle
Tree Felling is a process in which we remove the whole tree, Providing there is enough clear area the tree will be removed in one cut and a process of stripping the tree on the ground. Sectional dismantle is a method we use to remove a tree in difficult surroundings. i.e: close to building, power lines and out buildings. The method used is to remove the tree in sections using climbers or use a crane and latest rigging techniques, ensuring no damage to the property.
